The client outsources transport and storage assignments to a logistics service provider on an occasional, non-contractual basis. Invoicing is per assignment.
22PL - Second Party Logistics
Operational activities are carried out on a contractual basis, primarily transport and storage. Fees for 2PL are generally based on the cost per pallet principle.
33PL, 3PL+ - Third Party Logistics
In addition to basic operational logistics services, such as transport and storage, 3PL also offers value-added activities. Not just for the goods flow, such as labelling and assembly, but also increasingly for the information flow, such as customs management and stock management. With 3PL+ the service provider additionally offers logistics chain management.
44PL - Fourth Party Logistics
The 4PL provider develops and implements a tailor-made total solution for the customer, for all or part of the logistics process, which he then organises, manages, visualises, continually optimises and adjusts in the event of changing market conditions and/or customer wishes. He also takes responsibility for the selection and supervision of the physical logistics service providers, to continually guarantee the best price/quality ratio.
